INSIDE WIRE AND OUTLET MAINTENANCE ***

Protect yourself with Inside Wire Maintenance Service from MTC for just $1.05 per month per outlet.

If the telephone wiring in your home should fail, MTC will service the problem at no additional cost to you. This is a great service for anyone interested in protecting themselves from unexpected costs. Customers that do not have this service and request MTC to repair inside wiring or outlets will be charged a time and material charge of $50.00 per hour plus the cost of materials used.

Custom Calling Features (POTS)

ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION

Anonymous Call Rejection will prevent an incoming call from ringing at your [residence] or [business] if the caller has stopped the display of their telephone number with All Call Restrict. This service can work either with or without Call ID / Call ID Name & Number. Anonymous Call Rejection is available as "Fixed" and "Variable".

  • Fixed Anonymous Call Rejection is setup by MTC at the time of installation so that the feature is always active.

  • Variable Anonymous Call Rejection can be controlled by you as desired.

    1. Dialing *77 from your touchtone telephone activates Anonymous Call Rejection on the line.

    2. Dialing *87 from your touchtone telephone removes Anonymous Call Rejection from the line.

CALL BLOCKING

Call Blocking allows you to block access to any 550, 970, 976, 540, 900, or 700 numbers.
This service is available at no charge and without any installation charge.

CALL TRACE

Call Trace allows you to trace an annoyance telephone call by dialing *57 (1157 from rotary/pulse telephones) right after the call has ended. If the call can be traced you will be given the option to press 1 to trace the call or to just hang up if you do not want to continue with the trace. The calling party's number will then be recorded in the MTC Central Office. You must then notify the MTC Business Office after the trace code is activated. If we are able to identify the calling party's number, the information will be given to the NYS Police.

Residential: $1.50 per call traced ($10 installation)
Business: $1.50 per call traced ($15 installation)

CALL FORWARDING

Call Forwarding lets you transfer your incoming calls automatically to any other telephone you can dial within the continental USA without the assistance of an operator.
** You pay applicable toll charges, if any, for calls forwarded from your telephone.

Call Forwarding is available as "Fixed" and "Variable".

Fixed Call Forwarding is setup by MTC to forward calls to one particular telephone number.

  • To forward calls ~ from your touchtone telephone dial 72#. Any calls will then be forwarded to the telephone number set up in the MTC Central Office.

  • To cancel call forwarding ~ from your touchtone telephone dial 73#. Listen for two short tones followed by dial tone. Call Forwarding is canceled.

Variable Call Forwarding can be forwarded to any number by the customer.

  • To forward calls from your touchtone telephone:

    1. Dial 72#

    2. Listen for a second dial tone, then dial the number to which you want your calls forwarded. Two short tones followed by dial tone will indicate that the number has registered.

  • To cancel call forwarding, from your touchtone telephone dial 73#. Listen for two short tones followed by dial tone. Call Forwarding is canceled.

CALL RETURN

Call Return allows you to dial a code and have a call automatically returned to the last party who called or attempted to call you.

  1. Dial *69 (1169 from rotary/pulse telephones)

  2. Listen for an announcement that will tell you the telephone number of the party who last called you.

  3. If you wish to return the call, press 1.

  4. If you do not wish to return the call, hang up.

CALL WAITING WITH CANCEL CALL WAITING

Call Waiting allows you to know when someone is trying to call you while you are on the telephone. Two soft tones will repeat within 10 seconds should you not respond. The caller will hear the usual ringing signal until you answer.

To receive the incoming call:

  1. Place your current call on hold by briefly pressing the switch hook or flash key. The waiting call will then be on the line. You may alternate between the two calls by briefly pressing the switch hook or flash key. ...or you may:

  2. End the first call and hang up. Your phone will ring with the second call.

Cancel Call Waiting allows you the option to temporarily cancel Call Waiting to avoid interruptions.

To activate Cancel Call Waiting:

  • Before you place a call:

    1. Press *70 (1170 from rotary/pulse telephones).

    2. Enter the number you are calling.

**Call Waiting will be automatically restored when you hang up.

  • During a call:

    1. Press the switch hook briefly to place the current call on hold.

    2. Press *70 (1170 from rotary/pulse telephones) and listen for a confirmation tone.

    3. You will automatically return to your current call.

**Call Waiting will be automatically restored when you hang up.

CALL ID AND CALL ID WITH NAME AND NUMBER

Call ID allows you to determine who is calling before answering the telephone. **A Call ID display device attached to your telephone shows the telephone number of your incoming call, and can store the telephone number when you do or do not answer the call.

To use Call ID:

  1. Wait for the start of the second full ring of your telephone.

  2. The number of the calling party will appear on your display.

Call ID with Name and Number provides the same service, but in addition displays the name assigned to that particular telephone number.

**A Call ID display device is not included with this service, but may be purchased through MTC or where telephone equipment is sold.

CALL ID with Name and Number

PER CALL RESTRICT

Per Call Restrict displays your telephone number to Call ID Subscribers that you call. However, if you choose to prevent your number from being displayed to a Call ID subscriber, dial *67 (1167 from rotary/pulse telephones), wait for dial tone, then proceed to dial the telephone number. Per Call Restrict will be restored to its original state after the completion of your call.

Customers have the option to be set up as Per Call or All Call Restrict at the time of installation. Thereafter, to change this service from Per Call to All Call Restrict, there will be a fee of $5.00.

ALL CALL RESTRICT

All Call Restrict prevents your number from being displayed to all Call ID Subscribers. To allow your number to be displayed, dial *82 (1182 from rotary/pulse telephones), wait for dial tone, then proceed to dial the telephone number. All Call Restrict will be restored to its original state after the completion of your call.

Customers have the option to be set up as Per Call or All Call Restrict at the time of installation. Thereafter, to change this service from All Call to Per Call Restrict, there will be a fee of $5.00.

REPEAT DIALING

Repeat Dialing allows your telephone to continuously attempt to redial a busy number so you do not have to. When the line is free, you will be alerted with a special ringing, and the call will automatically be made.

To activate Repeat Dialing:​

  1. Dial *66 (1166 from rotary/pulse telephones) and your telephone will dial the last number that you dialed. If the line is busy, Repeat Dialing continues to dial until it gets through up to 30 minutes after the feature has been activated.

  2. When the line is not busy and the call can be placed, you will hear a special ring, pick up the receiver and your call will be placed automatically.

 

To cancel Repeat Dialing:​

  1. Dial *86 (1186 from rotary/pulse telephones) and Repeat Dialing will be canceled.

SPEED CALLING - 8 NUMBERS

Speed Calling allows you to program 1 to 8 telephone numbers on the numbers 2 through 9 on your telephones key pad. You can dial both local and long distance calls with Speed Calling.

To activate Speed Calling:

When you hear the dial tone, dial the Speed Calling code (2 through 9) followed by the # key assigned to the telephone number you are calling. The call will then be placed.

To add or change a speed calling code number:​

  1. Listen for a dial tone, and then dial 74#.

  2. Listen for a second dial tone, and then dial the Speed Calling code number to be added or changed. ** (Your code number would be 2 through 9 on your telephone)

  3. Next, dial the telephone number that you want to be assigned to that code number. (Dial the same as if you were placing the telephone call)

  4. Two short tones indicate the new code and telephone number combination have been recorded.

 

To deprogram a number from Speed Dial:​

  1. Listen for a dial tone, and then dial 74#.

  2. Dial the Speed Calling code (2-9) previously assigned that you wish to deprogram.

  3. Hang up your receiver.

 

*Since no telephone number was then dialed, no telephone number will be recorded.

THREE WAY CALLING

Three Way Calling allows you to add a third person to your conversation. This makes planning easier and allows you to arrange your own conference call without operator assistance.

To use Three Way Calling:​

  1. Place the call to the first person you want to be on the Three Way Call. Once you are connected to this person . . .

  2. Press the switch hook down to place the first party on hold.

  3. Listen for three short tones, then dial tone.

  4. Dial the telephone number of the third person you want added to the conversation.

  5. After the third person answers your call, press the switch hook down and release immediately. You will now be connected to both parties that you called.

To disconnect Three Way Calling:​

  1. Either party that you called can hang up at any time to disconnect from the call. *This will not disconnect you from the other party that you called.

  2. Once you hang up the call will be terminated for all parties.

VOICE MAIL (CALL ANSWERING)

When you're on the telephone, not at home, or just can't answer the telephone, Call Answering takes over for you. Unanswered calls forward automatically to the Call Answering System, located in the MTC Central Office, where callers receive your personalized greeting and can leave you a message. Call Answering takes care of your unanswered calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and your messages are only a phone call away.
